$100Make your own basket and learn one of the oldest crafts in human history. For thousands of years baskets served as indispensable objects in countless cultures. In this course, you can carry on the tradition and take home a beautiful, durable and useful basket crafted from local and responsibly harvested, hand-pounded Black Ash logs.
Students will craft a 6″ square to round berry basket with an optional leather strap.
This course is special in offering baskets made from local Black Ash. All materials used in the course will be harvested and processed by Penny Hewitt in Vermont. Students will learn about the process of locally-sourcing Black Ash for basketmaking, including the creation of hand-pounded Black Ash splints.
