Quilt Making with Your Special Fabric

June 6th, 2022 – June 10th, 2022

9:00am – 5:00pm

Workshop Overview

In this workshop, students will use their chosen special fabric to make a quilt. We all have some very special fabrics that we collect and store away for just that right project. Maybe you created your own fabric in Debbie’s Shibori in Indigo class last week! Or, maybe you have hand dyed fabrics from previous classes, special fabrics from journeys around the world, or just some lovely quilt fabrics you purchased. Where ever your fabrics came from, let’s make a quilt!  It can be an improve quilt or made from one of Debbie’s quilt patterns. Some people have beautiful silk fabrics and want to learn how to use them in a quilt. Debbie will teach you how to use special fabric to make a quilt. Debbie will discuss each student’s chose fabric prior to the class, so that everyone will have the necessary tools to help in the process.

Skills + Techniques

Students will learn:

• Choosing the proper pattern for the fabric
• How to add additional fabrics if necessary
• How to prepare silk for use in quilts
• Cutting and piecing
• Playing on a design wall or table to achieve an attractive layout and use of the fabrics you have
• Discuss the choice for borders or no borders on your quilt
