Blacksmithing: Forge Welding

Students will be shown and practice the basics of all forge welds: how to make a perfect coal fire, how to properly position one or more bars in it, how to identify the right heat, and, using the right flux, join them by hammering. Time permitting, the welded bars can then be used to make one or more decorative and functional pieces, such as a fireplace poker, a basket weave element, a paper towel holder, or chain links. Experience managing a coal fire would benefit students, but all levels are welcome to try. All workshops run from 9AM- 5PM with an hour for lunch in the middle of the day.
